Young-Williams Animal Center currently is at critical capacity for adult dogs, 6 months and older. With dozens of dogs waiting for adoption, the shelter does not have available space to house and care for the lost, stray and surrendered animals in need that come to Young-Williams every day as the official shelter of Knox County and City of Knoxville.
Many dogs like Suki are available now for adoption at Young-Williams Animal Center.
Young-Williams Animal Center is asking community members who have been considering pet adoption to plan save an animal life this weekend.
“Now is the time to adopt an adult dog,” says Young-Williams Animal Center CEO Janet Testerman. “We have a variety of types and sizes of dogs to fit any home or family, and these pets are waiting for your love and a forever home.”
On Monday, the shelter announced reduced adoption fees, lowering the cost to adopt any adult dog to just $40. In addition, Young-Williams Animal Center is offering a free gift of a PetSafe Gentle Leader harness, a dog toy or a bag of dog food with any adult dog adoption. The gifts are available while supplies last Friday-Sunday, March 9-11.
All adopters are screened and fully vetted before approval to take home a pet. Every adopted animal receives a veterinary exam, spay/neuter surgery, some standard vaccinations, a microchip with registration and more.
