Fees reduced to promote forever homes today through May 10

Senior cats like Kate, a 7-year-old female domestic short-hair mix, are available at Young-Williams Animal Center for a reduced adoption fee of only $10, from May 2-11, in celebration of National Pet Week.

From May 2-11, senior cats like Kate, a 7-year-old female domestic short-hair mix, are available at Young-Williams Animal Center for a reduced adoption fee of only $10 in celebration of National Pet Week.

Starting today, Young-Williams Animal Center is offering an adoption special in support of National Pet Week, May 5-11. National Pet Week is sponsored by the American Veterinary Medical Association to celebrate the bond pets share with their families and promote responsible pet ownership.

“Pets play such a special part in the lives of their owners,” said Jeff Ashin, Young-Williams Animal Center CEO. “There are so many animals at Young-Williams Animal Center waiting for a home and family to love them. By adopting from the shelter, you’re saving lives in East Tennessee.”

From Friday, May 2, to Sunday, May 11, Young-Williams Animal Center will offer special pricing of $50 for kittens and puppies, $25 for adult cats and dogs and $10 for senior pets.

Every adopted animal will receive the services covered by the regular adoption fees, which include a veterinary physical exam, spay/neuter surgery, some standard vaccinations, a microchip with registration and more. The adoption prices will be available at Young-Williams Animal Center at 3201 Division St., off Sutherland Avenue, and the Young-Williams Animal Village at 6400 Kingston Pike on Bearden Hill.

Young-Williams Animal Center currently has many adult dogs and cats available for adoption. Adult animals make excellent pets since many of them already have been socialized with humans and know how to behave. Older pets also are past the age of mischievous behavior, which means families don’t have to worry as much about finding their favorite shoes chewed beyond recognition. Adopting an adult pet also eliminates developmental questions about how large an animal will be or what the adult coat will be like in terms of thickness and length.

Dogs like Jake, a 2-year-old male Boxer-hound mix, are available at Young-Williams Animal Center for a reduced adoption fee of only $25, from May 2-11, in celebration of National Pet Week.

“As an open intake shelter, we take in more than 14,000 animals every year,” Ashin said. “We have a variety of dogs and cats of various sizes, ages, breeds and temperaments to fit the lifestyle of any individual or family. By adopting from the shelter, you’ll be able to celebrate your new animal throughout National Pet Week and all year long.”
