Windy Hill Farm and Preserve celebrates tradition of East Tennessee family farm, invests in future as all-inclusive boutique resort

October 7, 2021

Windy Hill Farm and Preserve – a boutique resort and hunting lodge, as well as working farm and wildlife habitat – announced a $10 million investment to expand lodging and guest amenities on the East Tennessee property.

Located in Loudon, Windy Hill Farm and Preserve will feature 18 total accommodations, including nine private cabins, an eight-room guesthouse and a spacious farmhouse for groups and large families. The private cabins recently were constructed, in addition to the farmhouse, and the eight-room guesthouse will be completed by spring 2022.

Also coming next spring is an on-site 46-seat restaurant, Wilder at Windy Hill, focused on hyperlocal, sustainable cuisine. Led by Chef Ben Warwick, the restaurant will feature garden-to-table ingredients, transformed by an appreciation for international cuisine, to offer a fun and unique approach to well-loved Southern staples. On-property guests will enjoy three meals daily, and a limited number of outside dining reservations will be offered nightly.

“Guests who have visited the farm for a relaxing overnight stay in the farmhouse or successful upland quail hunt are eager to return, calling it ‘a glimpse of heaven on earth,’ ” General Manager Steven Brewington said. “Now, as we build cabins and a new restaurant on the property, we are eager to welcome many more visitors into the Windy Hill family. As we preserve and cultivate the land, we are committed to sharing it with others through personalized, curated experiences that allow our guests to unwind, recharge, experience the beauty of nature at its finest, and leave with a renewed connection to the world around them.”

Elected officials attend a preview event on Oct. 6 to learn about how Windy Hill Farm and Preserve is investing and expanding as an all-inclusive resort in Loudon County, Tennessee. Windy Hill Farm and Preserve comprises more than 650 acres, encircled by two miles of Tennessee River shoreline, and nearly 75 percent of the land is dedicated to the development of native wildlife habitat.

Activities on the property include hiking and wildlife viewing; farm tours and boat tours; archery; biking; kayaking and paddle boarding; yard games; gardening, beekeeping and cooking classes; whiskey and wine tastings; wellness events; musical concerts; and more.

Upland and migratory bird hunting is available in season from September-March on courses of warm season grasslands, food plots and forest, with additional acres being developed for future use.

Facilities include an existing lodge, which provides a gathering space for family and friends, as well as a place for guests to prep before hunts and relax afterwards. Dog-friendly accommodations are available, whether for a bird dog or furry family member. Details about lodging amenities, including ADA accessibility, occupancy numbers and more, are available for review on the website, along with options for guests to book special enhancements such as an in-room massage or picnic lunch.

The expansion plans for the resort also will require additional staff. Windy Hill Farm and Preserve will employ approximately 25 people in its initial opening phase and is expected to add an additional 50-75 jobs in the first five years. Positions include guest services, restaurant, housekeeping and grounds/maintenance.

Windy Hill Farm and Preserve will open for lodging and dining in spring 2022, and reservations can be made through the website at windyhillfarmtn.com. Hunting packages are available currently.
