University Orthopaedic Surgery Center, Knoxville’s new freestanding ambulatory surgery center specializing in providing outpatient care through the expertise of University Orthopaedic Surgeons and The University of Tennessee Medical Center’s Orthopaedic Institute, is seeking job applicants in a variety of health care and support roles as it prepares for its grand opening this Spring.

All interested applicants are invited to job fairs on Tuesday, March 1, from 4-7 p.m., and Saturday, March 5, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The job fairs will be held in the Institute for Advanced Materials and Manufacturing (IAMM) Building at 2641 Osprey Vista Way at The University of Tennessee Research Park at Cherokee Farm. University Orthopaedic Surgery Center also is located in the UT Research Park off Alcoa Highway.

University Orthopaedic Surgery Center is hiring for the following positions:

  • Registered nurses
  • Medical business office staff
  • Medical receptionists
  • Surgical techs
  • Other clinical and clerical roles
  • Positive team players who want work-life balance

Full-time and part-time opportunities are available, and training is provided. Job seekers should bring resumes and be prepared for on-site interviews. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with the facility’s surgeons and leadership team, and same-day offers may be available for qualified candidates.

“The opening of the University Orthopaedic Surgery Center represents a focused, highly specialized health care partnership formed to provide patients with the most ideal site of service for outpatient orthopaedic care,” said Dr. Chip McDowell, medical director of University Orthopaedic Surgery Center. “We aim to provide the highest quality of care while also offering accessible and cost-effective services. We’re looking for job candidates who want to support these efforts, who are ready for a rewarding career in health care and who fit our culture of providing exceptional patient-centered care.”

Some of the most common orthopaedic procedures that will be performed at the center include surgery of the hand and foot, arthroscopy and reconstruction of the shoulder, and hip and knee, as well as total joint and spine procedures.

Project leaders expect to have approximately 150 employees when the center opens. That total number of employees could expand to 180 with growth of the facility. Team members at the 91,000-square-foot center will care for around 225-275 patients a day for surgery, clinic, imaging and therapy.
