Many people’s New Year’s resolutions involve getting in shape, slimming down and getting healthy, but what if it’s your budget that needs to go on a diet? If you’ve been financially overindulging and your budget needs a New Year’s slim down, you can come to a free Device Workshop in Knoxville to learn how to use your smartphone to help.

According to a recent U.S. Cellular survey, 30 percent of people use finance tracking apps (e.g., Mint) to manage their money, and 64 percent use their phones to track account transactions, pay bills or deposit checks.¹ If you are in need of a financial “boot camp,” devices such as the iPhone 6s and Samsung Galaxy S6 can make it easy to track your budget, manage your bank account, pay bills online and search for sales and incentives.

U.S. Cellular wants to show area residents the tips and tricks of using these devices to the fullest, so it is hosting three free Device Workshops throughout Knoxville in January. Dates and times are:

  • Saturday, Jan. 9, at 9 a.m., 4873 N. Broadway
  • Saturday, Jan. 16, at 9 a.m., 2736 Schaad Road.
  • Thursday, Jan. 21, at 6 p.m., 8401 Kingston Pike

The workshops are open to everyone, and you do not need to be a U.S. Cellular customer to attend.

“After the holidays, some of us may need to get our finances back to a healthier state after months of excess spending, and our mobile devices are a great tool for setting and tracking budgets, accessing coupons and finding innovative ways to cut costs,” said Nathan Waddell, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in Tennessee. “Using these devices on our high-quality network here in Knoxville or across the country, you’ll be able to trim your spending and feel more financially fit.”

¹ Results are from a nationally representative online survey of 738 smartphone owners conducted by U.S. Cellular in partnership with Maritz Research from November 12-20, 2014.

Additional data charges may apply. 4G LTE service provided through King Street Wireless, a partner of U.S. Cellular. LTE is a trademark of ETSI.
