How loud can Alcoa High School fans cheer for their football team? U.S. Cellular intends to find out and give the school an opportunity to win $25,000 in the process. Alcoa High School in Blount County is one of eight schools nationwide that are participating in the company’s “Battle of the Stands” competition, and the school with the loudest fans will win $25,000.

On Friday, Sept. 25, U.S. Cellular encourages all fans of Alcoa High School to attend the football game against Heritage High School and cheer the team to victory. U.S. Cellular will provide spirit packs to fans to help increase the decibel level, and at a dedicated moment during halftime, crowd noise will be measured with results posted at www.aseasonoftradition.com. Alcoa High School fans then will be able to track their school and see how they rank against competing schools. Each week, a different high school will be featured, and their fans will have the chance to prove they are the loudest. At the end of the competition in November, the winning school will be identified.

“We want to celebrate the fans of high school sports and the local communities that come together to support the players,” said Nathan Waddell, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in Tennessee. “At U.S. Cellular, we are a part of the community, and we know how much fans care about their local teams. We look forward to seeing the  passionate school spirit and hearing how loud everyone can be.”

Fans of the school who are unable to attend can visit www.aseasonoftradition.com on game day and for a week afterwards to find out how they can add their “digital crowd noise” to the school’s total. Alcoa High School is competing against high schools in Illinois, Iowa, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon and Wisconsin.

Between now and Nov. 13, fans of high schools across the country also are encouraged to upload a video of their school’s game day fan tradition. A winning video will be announced every week until Nov. 13.The fan who submits the video will win $500, and the school involved also will win $500. No purchase, U.S. Cellular account or mobile device necessary to enter or win. Making a purchase, having a U.S. Cellular account or using a mobile device to enter will not increase the chances of a particular school winning the prize.
