Each year, the more than 350 associates at the Knoxville call center decide how they will support their community and area charitable organizations. The associates chose to provide $3,000 to the local Make-A-Wish chapter to make a positive impact for East Tennessee children living with life-threatening medical conditions.

“We are proud and excited to make this contribution to Make-A-Wish East Tennessee, and we know it will be put to good use for children in our region,” said Sharon Stewart, director of the U.S. Cellular Customer Care Center in Knoxville. “It’s an important team-building exercise and a point of pride for our associates to be able to help direct how their company will give back and to assist in supporting charitable organizations in their communities. We treat our customers like neighbors, not numbers, and we’re proud to support our neighbors across East Tennessee.”

Dozens of associates gathered in the lobby of the west Knoxville call center for the check presentation to Make-A-Wish East Tennessee and were proud to be part of the effort.

“We are committed to touching the lives of local children dealing with life-threatening conditions, and every dollar helps us grant wishes for more kids,” said Stephanie Wilkins, director of development for Make-A-Wish East Tennessee. “We are grateful to the associates here at the U.S. Cellular Knoxville Customer Care Center for recognizing the impact of Make-A-Wish and for choosing to support us through this donation. Over the last three years, Make-A-Wish East Tennessee has experienced the most growth in its history, and this donation will help us fund more once-in-a-lifetime experiences for children across our region.”

As part of the charitable giving program, the Customer Care Center associates also provided dozens of coats for the Ladies of Charity Winter Coat Drive – with each associate team selecting a special coat to donate to a child in need in the community – and the associates gathered more than 100 holiday gifts for the Angel Tree this past December. Associates at the west Knoxville care center continue to identify ways to volunteer and give back as part of U.S. Cellular’s commitment to the local communities it serves.
