U.S. Cellular and Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley kick off fourth annual Black History Month Art Contest

Local U.S. Cellular associates joined youth from the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley to get creative and kick off the fourth annual Black History Month Art Contest. At events held today at the clubs, youth created original 8.5 x 11 pieces of artwork in recognition of influential African-Americans, including business people, athletes, historical figures and celebrities. Ten finalists will be chosen, and the community will be invited to vote for their favorites in local U.S. Cellular stores.

“We enjoy working with the Boys & Girls Clubs on this contest and are inspired seeing the thoughtfulness, creativity and talent that the kids showcase through their artwork,” said Nathan Waddell, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in Tennessee. “We are honored to display their creations in our stores and celebrate our country’s diversity during Black History Month.”

The finalists’ artwork will be chosen by a panel of local U.S. Cellular associates. Those creations will be displayed in select U.S. Cellular stores from Feb. 1-28, and anyone 18 and older can visit a store to vote for a favorite. The top three vote-getters will be announced in March. Prizes are gift cards in the following amounts:

  • $250, 1st place
  • $150, 2nd place
  • $100, 3rd place
