Tranzonic Companies hires Ben Powers as continuous improvement manager
The Tranzonic Companies recently hired Ben Powers as continuous improvement manager at the national manufacturing firm’s West Knoxville facility.
Based in Cleveland, Ohio, The Tranzonic Companies has been in business for more than 90 years and manufactures wiping cloths; personal hygiene products; textiles; washroom supplies and accessories; wiping and cleaning supplies; and safety products. The Knoxville facility, located off Hardin Valley Road, is the largest manufacturing and distribution site for The Tranzonic Companies.
“Ben is a welcome asset to our team,” said Brian Rhoades, vice president of operations in Knoxville. “His process improvement track record will benefit both our production and our bottom line.”
Prior to joining Tranzonic, Powers was a process engineer and value stream manager at WS Packaging Group in Knoxville. WS Packaging has several manufacturing facilities across the United States that produce label and packaging products, and Powers’ process improvements decreased downtime and resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars in savings each year.
Powers earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering with a concentration in microeconomics from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. During his career, he has developed skills in process improvement framework, including DMAIC, Kaizen, 5S, Kanban, standard work development, design of experiments, root cause analysis and TPM.
Powers lives in Knoxville and in his spare time enjoys practicing the martial art of Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He has trained and competed for several years and currently helps teach classes at two local gyms.
