The Swag, a luxury all-inclusive resort in the Smoky Mountains near Waynesville, North Carolina, again has been named to Travel & Leisure’s Top 10 Resort Hotels in the South. This is the boutique property’s fourth year as part of the magazine’s World’s Best Awards, landing at No. 3 on the list for 2021.
“This list is compiled based on real reviews by guests, which makes it especially meaningful to be included,” said Annie Colquitt, owner and innkeeper at The Swag with her husband, David Colquitt. “We prioritize every customer and strive to offer a uniquely welcoming experience, so being named alongside such esteemed resorts on those merits is a true honor.”
Every year, Travel & Leisure holds an online reader survey for the World’s Best Awards to determine the top travel experiences around the world. The survey collects travelers’ opinions on facilities, location, service, food and overall value. On the 2021 list of the best resort hotels in the South, The Swag is accompanied by such nationally regarded locations as Blackberry Mountain in Tennessee and Old Edwards Inn in North Carolina.
The Swag, situated on 250 acres of mile-high views, hiking trails and picturesque hideaways, is currently open for its 40th season. The Colquitts have spent every off-season renovating the resort to add modern flair to its inherently cozy and serene charm. The most recent additions include a wine cellar and outdoor patio to better connect the seasonally inspired fine dining experience with the spectacular landscape.
