Dogs older than six months $40 through Sunday

As the Tennessee Vols football team seeks its second victory of the season against Arkansas State this weekend, the dogs at Young-Williams Animal Center are looking for homes.

“We all hope the Vols win, and it would be an even bigger win for the dogs in our shelter to find forever homes,” Jeff Ashin, Young-Williams Animal Center CEO, said. “We hope the Big Orange fans in our community will adopt a pet this weekend and spend the rest of the season cheering on Tennessee with a new best friend.”

Through Sunday, Sept. 7, Young-Williams Animal Center is hosting the Tennessee Tail-gate adoption special. Fees for all dogs older than 6 months have been reduced to $40.

Every adopted animal will receive the services covered by the regular adoption fees, which include a veterinary physical exam, spay/neuter surgery, some standard vaccinations, a microchip with registration and more. The adoption prices will be available at Young-Williams Animal Center at 3201 Division St., off Sutherland Avenue, and the Young-Williams Animal Village at 6400 Kingston Pike on Bearden Hill.

Young-Williams has seen an increase in intake over the last few weeks and encourages the community to spay and neuter their pets.

“It’s the most simple and humane way to save lives and control the pet overpopulation in the community,” Ashin said. “We offer a low-cost clinic at the Young-Williams Animal Village on Bearden Hill where dogs are fixed for $70 and cats for $45.”
