Scott Bird joined Moxley Carmichael in 2006 and became COO and one of the owners of the company in 2022. He has worked with such segment-leading clients as The Trust Company of Tennessee, Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation, Johnson Architecture and Knoxville Utilities Board.
He has more than 20 years of experience in helping clients communicate and market effectively and helps plan, oversee and manage long-range and day-to-day marketing strategies, communications activities and projects for the firm’s clients. He also works with clients on primary research needs.
Before joining Moxley Carmichael, Scott worked in a variety of management positions in marketing communications for business-to-business and professional service firms in the Knoxville area, including Bailey International Corporation.
Scott has been active in the American Marketing Association at local and national levels. For the Knoxville chapter, he has served in board positions, and his term as president earned the International Chapter of the Year designation based on excellence in chapter leadership, communications and financial performance. As a member of the international organization’s Professional Chapters Council, he helped develop best-practice programs and mentored chapter leaders across the country in the areas of leadership and chapter management.
Scott also has contributed his marketing communications expertise to several area nonprofits, including the East Tennessee Kidney Foundation, March of Dimes, American Heart Association and YWCA. In 2004, he traveled to Brazil for a month-long professional exchange with Rotary International.
Scott earned his bachelor’s degree in 1992 and MBA in 1994 in marketing from the University of Tennessee. He holds a certificate in professional fundraising from Boston University.
