We're hiring experienced account executives.
Leslie Wylie Bateman joined Moxley Carmichael in 2023 as an account executive to develop and implement communication strategies for the company’s clients.
A longtime resident of Knoxville, Leslie’s forward-thinking mindset, talent for crafting compelling stories and institutional understanding of the community serve her well in an account executive position. She collaborates with clients across multiple sectors, including nonprofit, health care, consumer products and professional services.
Leslie brings over two decades of media experience and has contributed to prominent publications including The Washington Post. Leslie became editor-in-chief of Knoxville’s former alt-weekly Metro Pulse at age 24. Prior to this role, she co-founded Knoxville Magazine and served as its managing editor while pursuing a master’s degree in journalism at the University of Tennessee.
Before joining Moxley Carmichael, Leslie, a lifelong horse enthusiast, led equestrian sports media company Nation Media, LLC, for 10 years, developing it from a single blog into a network of websites with 1.5 million unique visitors annually. Her work took her around the globe, providing coverage of major events including world championships and Olympic Games. Additionally, she used her platform to promote diversity and inclusion within equestrian sport and address issues such as safety and equine welfare.
Leslie lives in South Knoxville with her husband, Tommy, and their 4-year-old son, Thomas. Bateman enjoys attending live music events, playing One Knox Rec Soccer, leading trail rides at Blackberry Farm and cultivating the family’s yard as a wildlife- and pollinator-friendly habitat.
