As founder and chief executive officer of East Tennessee’s premier public relations firm, Cynthia Moxley has a hand in almost all the firm’s work. After a career in the newspaper business for over a decade and in the public relations business for another two decades, she has developed close personal relationships with business, political and civic leaders across East Tennessee and the state.
She is the author of the award-winning blog, The Blue Streak, and is recognized as a leader in social media. She has written two books about Knoxville. An unapologetic booster of Knoxville, Cynthia currently is president of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra’s board of directors and is immediate past chair of the board of the Knoxville Area Urban League. She also has served on the boards of the Clarence Brown Theatre, Friends of Literacy, WUOT-FM and the Executive Women’s Association, among others.
Cynthia formed Moxley Communications in 1992, changing the name to Moxley Carmichael in 1999 to reflect the addition of her business partner and husband, Alan Carmichael. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia. Cynthia and Alan live in downtown Knoxville with their calico cat, Rexie.
