Charley Sexton, who has been with Moxley Carmichael since 2001, became one of the owners of the company in 2022. He finds creative solutions to accomplish clients’ communications goals, works with nearly every client on the roster and manages a highly creative and talented staff. Whether developing a new brand identity, building a website for a client’s specific needs or designing an engaging print ad, Charley understands the client’s communications goals and objectives.

He works directly on creative department projects, as well as manages graphic designers, web designers and developers, social media staff and production vendors. By developing a stable of superior printers, web development vendors and photographers, Charley is able to leverage the best quality production at the best possible cost.

Staying aware of design trends and social media innovations, Charley works with the firm’s account executives to develop advertising, marketing and online strategies. He ensures that client branding and strategic goals relate to the consumer, a key part of successful campaign execution.

Charley and his team produce creative designs that are tailored specifically for clients and match their brand and marketing goals. One of his favorite endeavors is to help clients create a brand that resonates with their culture, as well as lead re-branding exercises to reinvigorate identity. Charley also works with account executives and the Creative Department staff in producing social media campaigns and strategy that use innovative approaches and strong content to help clients engage effectively with their customers and other audiences.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from the University of Tennessee, Charley was a graphic designer for Clarence Brown Theatre, where he created print advertisements and other marketing materials. Charley serves on the board of directors of the East Tennessee Community Design Center. He is a founding member and past president of Young Professionals of Knoxville and is a member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA). He also is a founding member of Zoo Knoxville’s Circle of Friends Leadership Council and was recognized as ambassador of the year in 2015. In 2016, he was recognized in the Greater Knoxville Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 list.

Charley makes his home in Powell with his wife Linnie, their two daughters, Haley and Riley, and a precocious cat named Millie.
