Race benefits outreach services of Thompson Cancer Survival Center

The SUBWAY® Race Against Cancer is set for Sunday, Nov. 8, at World’s Fair Park. The East Tennessee area SUBWAY® franchise owners announced their partnership with Thompson Cancer Survival Center and Covenant Health in February as the new title sponsor of the annual Race Against Cancer. Now in its 22^nd year, the 5K race benefits the cancer outreach and education services of Thompson Cancer Survival Center.

There are three registration options available. Online registration is available at www.raceagainstcancer.org through Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 6 p.m. One-stop registration is available at Fleet Feet Sports in Turkey Creek and New Balance Knoxville in Suburban Plaza. Race-day registration on the lawn at World’s Fair Park will be open from 1-2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov.8.

Registration is $35 for adults and $15 for children 18 and under for the 5K run, the one-mile walk in the park, or, for those who can’t be present on race day, the “afternoon nap” option.

“My life was saved because of a cancer screening. Encouraging others to get screened for all forms of cancer is very important to me,” said Michael Holtz, 2015 race chair. “By participating in and supporting the race, you have the power to save lives.”

The fundraising goal for the 2015 race is $475,000, with 5,000 registered participants. Funds raised through the race will provide cancer prevention, education and early detection services for the medically underserved throughout East Tennessee.

The impact of the race is growing by leaps and bounds!”
