South College School of Pharmacy student elected regional liaison for Phi Lambda Sigma Pharmacy Leadership Society
Kari J. Parker, a third-year pharmacy student at the South College School of Pharmacy, has been elected as a regional liaison for the Phi Lambda Sigma Pharmacy Leadership Society.
Phi Lambda Sigma is a national association chartered at 125 of the 138 schools and colleges of pharmacy across the United States and operates through a system of local chapters. The organization promotes the development of leadership qualities, especially among pharmacy students.
Parker, who will represent Region 3, has served at South College as Class of 2020 vice president; president of Delta-Psi Chapter of Phi Lambda Sigma; vice president of policy for APhA Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP); a Tennessee Pharmacist Association delegate; and as a contributing member of the Student Executive Council for the School of Pharmacy. She earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Savannah State University.
“I plan to continue to inspire, uplift, and challenge my colleagues to become great leaders and bridge the gap between schools within and across the regions,” Parker said.
In her role for Phi Lambda Sigma, Parker will represent pharmacy schools from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, and Tennessee on a national platform.
“Kari has earned this prestigious position within the Phi Lambda Sigma Pharmacy Leadership Society with her work ethic and dedication to the profession,” said Dr. William M. Gentry, dean of the South College School of Pharmacy. “It’s an added honor to have South College represented within the organization. We are committed to the development of our students.”
South College offers a three-year pharmacy program at its Knoxville campus, making it the only accelerated Doctor of Pharmacy program in Tennessee.
