Dental Assisting program in Nashville accredited at highest available level

The Dental Assisting program at South College Nashville has earned elevated accreditation status through a thorough vetting process by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).

The Dental Assisting program at South College Nashville has been granted the highest level of accreditation with the status of “approval without reporting requirements” from the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). The campus is located at 616 Marriott Drive.

The certificate in Dental Assisting program has been granted the accreditation status of “approval without reporting requirements” from CODA. This is the highest level of accreditation, indicating that the program is fully accredited, meeting or exceeding all of the basic requirements set forth by CODA.

“Achieving CODA accreditation assures our current students and future applicants that South College is offering an excellent education,” said Nick South, campus president of South College in Nashville. “The dental clinic and programs have exceeded our expectations. In addition to pursuing increasing levels of accreditation, we offer programs in areas with strong projected growth in order to create opportunities for career success for our students.”

As part of a major renovation, the South College Nashville campus installed a dental clinic with state-of-the-art equipment to provide classroom learning labs for students and offer community dental services.

Registration is open for the Spring 2020 cohort for Dental Assisting, which starts April 8. South College Nashville also offers a Dental Hygiene program, which is currently accepting applications for the Fall 2020 cohort. The Spring 2020 cohort for Dental Hygiene has reached capacity, a significant accomplishment for a program that is less than a year old.

South College is centrally located in the heart of the medical community in Nashville, which is becoming known as the health care management capital of the United States. The 75,000-square-foot campus building at 616 Marriott Drive is located just north of Interstate 40 and has on-site parking.

In addition to the dental assisting and dental hygiene career tracks, South College also offers degrees and programs in multiple health care fields, including occupational therapy assistant, physical therapist assistant, nursing, diagnostic medical sonography/ultrasound, health science (pre-pharmacy or pre-nursing), radiography, and more.

South College staff can provide information about financial aid eligibility, including Tennessee Promise, Tennessee Reconnect, Tennessee HOPE Scholarship, and other grants and scholarships.

In addition, the South College Military Grant program provides tuition benefits to veterans and spouses of veterans with honorable discharge status; active duty military and spouses; and dependents who are eligible for U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs educational benefits. South College also has earned the Military Friendly® School and Military Friendly Spouse School designation.
