South College Atlanta to offer Yellow Ribbon Program to military veterans

May 14, 2020

South College Atlanta has been approved to extend financial aid through the Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program, which helps military veterans with education expenses.

“South College is committed to serving members of the military and veterans and offering career-focused educational opportunities and financial assistance,” South College Chancellor Steve South said. “As an institution, South College has participated in the Yellow Ribbon Program since 2011, and we are pleased to now offer it as part of our portfolio of financial assistance options to students at our Atlanta campus.”

South College Atlanta will fully participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program without caps on the number of eligible students or the amount of assistance students can receive in a year. The Department of Veterans Affairs granted approval for the program.

The Yellow Ribbon Program helps veterans pay for out-of-state, private school, or undergraduate tuition that the Post-9/11 GI Bill does not cover. Students who served at least 36 months of active duty service after Sept. 10, 2001, and received honorable discharge; were honorably discharged from active duty for a service connected disability after 30 days of continuous service after Sept. 10, 2001; or are recipients of the Fry Scholarship for surviving dependents and spouses of soldiers who lost their lives while serving the country are eligible. A fourth category of eligibility is slated to begin in August 2022 for active duty service members.

South College, a Top 10 Military Friendly® School, also offers the South College Military Grant, which provides tuition benefits to veterans and spouses of veterans with honorable discharge status; active duty military and spouses; and dependents who are eligible for U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs educational benefits.

In addition, South College offers financial aid eligibility through other grants and scholarships. To learn more about academic programs and financial assistance, visit https://www.south.edu.

South College Atlanta is located at 2600 Century Parkway NE.
