Sweet P’s Barbeque has several events and specials planned for the month of July, including:
- Half-off Happy Hour – Begins Tuesday, July 4, from 3-6 p.m., Downtown Dive, 410 W. Jackson Ave.
Beginning July 4, Sweet P’s Barbeque will be pouring half-priced beer and wine during happy hour every Tuesday through Friday from 3-6 p.m. Sweet P’s also will offer half-priced pimento cheese and fried pickles, in addition to a happy hour menu that will feature new specials each week.
- Songwriters in the Soul House – Wednesday, July 19, 6:30 p.m., Soul House, 3725 Maryville Pike
The Soul House will present Peter Holsapple as part of its monthly Songwriters in the Soul House series. Holsapple is a singer, songwriter and guitarist who released two new singles, “Don’t Mention the War,” and “Cinderella Style,” last February. The show is free; seating is first-come, first-served. Sweet P’s Barbeque also has partnered with Blackhorse Brewery to offer beer specials on handcrafted ales, including $2 cans during all shows.
- Taste ‘n’ Toast – Wednesday, July 19, 5-9 p.m., Downtown Dive, 410 W. Jackson Ave.
Sweet P’s hosts monthly Taste ‘n’ Toast fundraisers at the Downtown Dive, offering guests a chance to have a good time and support a good cause. This month, the Taste ‘n’ Toast will support The Joy of Music School, an organization that provides free weekly music lessons to underserved children in the community. Each $15 plate includes an entrée, sides and beer pairing with $5 of every specially created dinner donated to The Joy of Music School.
This month’s menu features smoked watermelon with chipotle honey chicken and street corn relish topped with cotija cheese. Bell’s Brewery will sponsor beer pairings for the meal. This month’s pairing will be Bell’s Oberon Ale. Sweet P’s also will match the amount raised at the event for an additional donation to The Joy of Music School.
