Positively Living & Choice Health Network to provide services at new Knox Pride outreach center
Positively Living & Choice Health Network has partnered with Knox Pride to provide services and training at the newly opened Community Outreach Center in South Knoxville.
Starting in November, “Choice Health Network at the Pride Center” will host HIV testing and prevention, educational training and other events supporting East Tennessee’s LGBTQ+ community.
“Positively Living has served Knoxville’s LGBTQ+ community for 25 years, so when we heard Knox Pride was launching an outreach center, we felt strongly about supporting that effort,” said Steve Jenkins, CEO of Positively Living & Choice Health Network. “Positively Living & Choice Health Network will sponsor a space at the Community Outreach Center, where we’ll conduct testing, HIV prevention and outreach. We look forward to continuing to serve the LGBTQ+ community by providing inclusive, nonjudgmental care for all, and working toward our vision of health, equity and hope.”
Health care providers from the community health nonprofit will perform free HIV and Hepatitis C (HCV) testing on the first and third Wednesday of each month.
The first clinics are Nov. 3 and 17 between 5-7 p.m.; no appointment is necessary. Positively Living & Choice Health Network will announce additional dates and services held at the outreach center via its Facebook (@plandchn) and Instagram (@chnharmreduction) pages.
“Partnering with Knox Pride allows us to reach more East Tennesseans and advance our mission of providing compassionate care to empower, promote and inspire wellness,” Jenkins said.
The Knox Pride Community Outreach Center is located at 4028 Chapman Highway. Visitors to the center also can connect to resources, including peer support, food and clothing assistance, safer sex supplies and more.
“We appreciate the partnership of Positively Living & Choice Health Network,” Knox Pride President John Camp. “Through the services and support provided by both our organizations, the Community Outreach Center will be a vital hub for services and support for the local LGBTQ+ community.”
