Moxley Carmichael hires Elisha Jewell as a web developer

Moxley Carmichael has hired Elisha Jewell as a web developer to create, code, modify and maintain websites for the public relations and marketing company’s clients.

“Elisha has the experience and advanced education as a web developer and has been able to make a difference for our clients from day one,” said Lauren Miller, CEO of Moxley Carmichael. “Her skills include technology integration, research, identification of efficiencies and best practices in the website development process.”

Jewell graduated from the University of Tennessee summa cum laude in 2022 with a Master of Science in Information Science (MSIS). She also earned a bachelor’s degree in music and vocal performance in 2020 from LeMoyne-Owen College, also with summa cum laude honors.

“Moxley Carmichael has clients that include corporate, education, entertainment and non-profit organizations,” Jewell said. “It is a perfect fit where I can use all of my experience in academia, nonprofits and communities to apply those skills to our various projects from a development, information and user experience standpoint.”

Before joining Moxley Carmichael, Jewell served as director of grants and development at The Bottom, a non-profit bookshop and multi-use community space fostering change and togetherness, celebrating culture and engaging the creativity of Black people in Knoxville. In that role, she secured more than $80,000 in grant funds for arts, culture and literature programs for the East Knoxville community.

She also founded Lib3, a Web3 startup that provides Blockchain-powered marketplace and publishing services for professionals in the cycle of academic publishing to combat systems of inequitable pay in academia.

Jewell’s dedication to community service includes her participation in a range of local initiatives. Notably, as a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., an esteemed organization dedicated to championing civil rights and social action, Jewell is committed to promoting positive change and advancing equity in her community.

Originally from Delaware, she now resides in Knoxville with her partner, Kaylnn, and tabby cat Shikamaru. In her free time, Jewell enjoys making music, road tripping, spending time outdoors camping and rock climbing, and exploring Knoxville’s brewery scene.
