LorenzAndyAndy Lorenz, vice president of Messer Construction Co., has been named to the University of Tennessee Chancellor’s Associates for a three-year term beginning in August 2013.

The group, comprised of business, professional and community leaders from the Knoxville area, was established in 1972 to help build public understanding of and support for the university.

“Since its formation, the Chancellor’s Associates program has played a vital role in developing greater public understanding and support for the University of Tennessee,” said UT Chancellor Jimmy Cheek. “They are involved, informed, and willing to help articulate the University’s mission, vision, goal, and current and future plans. We are grateful to Andy and all the members of this dedicated group for their active interest, service and support.”

The board is comprised of approximately 60 members, each serving a three-year term, and meets monthly to keep abreast of current and future plans and program offerings at UT.

Lorenz brings to this position a diverse background with established relationships in the building industry and the community. Beginning his career with Messer Construction Co. in 1986 and now heading the company’s Knoxville region, he also serves on the boards of directors for the Knoxville Chamber, Knoxville Building Board of Adjustments and Appeals, and Pellissippi State Community College Foundation. He is a board member and past board president of the Episcopal School of Knoxville and serves on the Advocacy Board for the University of Tennessee Department of Construction Sciences.

Chancellor Cheek credits the support of this diverse group with the current climate of goodwill between UT and the public which has been conducive to the growth of both the University and the Knoxville community. Danny Pressley, wealth advisor for BPV Wealth Management LLC in Knoxville, has been named 2013-14 Chair of the Chancellor’s Associates program effective July 1.
