KSO to perform free concert May 19 in Maryville

The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra will perform a free, family-friendly concert Saturday, May 19, at 7:30 p.m. at Theatre in the Park on the Greenbelt in Maryville, Tennessee.

Music Director Aram Demirjian will lead the Knoxville Symphony Chamber Orchestra in a concert of light pops, including timeless music of the stage and screen, such as “Waltz” from Tchaikovsky’s “Sleeping Beauty,” a tribute to Broadway composers Lerner and Loewe, and music from the films “Chicago” and the more recent “La La Land.”

Sponsored by Aubrey’s Restaurant, Clayton Homes, Hickory Construction and Altar’d State, the concert is open to the public, and no tickets are required. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. In the case of light rain, the concert will take place as scheduled. In the case of cold temperatures or thunderstorms, the concert will be postponed.

The concert is part of the KSO Education & Community Partnerships initiative. By performing a free concert, the Knoxville Symphony provides the community exposure to classical music and showcases the talented musicians living in Knoxville.
