The KSO Chamber Classics Series begins in two weeks with music of Mozart & Haydn. Conducted by KSO Resident Conductor James Fellenbaum, this performance features the University of Tennessee’s Director of Collaborative Piano, Dr. Kevin Class and will take place on Sunday, September 25 at 2:30 p.m. at the Bijou Theatre. This series is presented with support from the Aslan Foundation.

The Chamber Classics Series includes five concerts which take place on Sunday afternoons at the Bijou Theatre (unless otherwise noted) with tickets starting at just $15. The series opens with some of the most beloved and well-known works from the Classical Era. Wolfgang Mozart’s Overture to The Marriage of Figaro is one of his most popular overtures, having been heard frequently in concert halls, as well as on TV and in movies. Josef Haydn’s Symphony No. 104, “London,” is one of his final works, and is one of the finest examples of the classical-era symphony. Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 is also one of his most popular piano concerti, informally nicknamed “Elvira Madigan,” due to the use of the second movement in the 1967 Swedish film of the same name.
The Chamber Orchestra will be conducted by KSO Resident Conductor James Fellenbaum and feature a solo by Kevin Class, the University of Tennessee School of Music’s Director of Collaborative Piano. Musical selections include Mozart’s Overture to “The Marriage of Figaro,” Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 2 and Haydn’s Symphony No. 104, “London.”
Kevin Class
Kevin Class is an accomplished teacher and performer as a pianist, collaborator and conductor of both orchestral and operatic literature. In addition to serving as the Director of Collaborative Piano at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Kevin also serves as Music Director of the university’s acclaimed Opera Theatre. Prior to this appointment, he served on the Opera Studies faculty of Indiana University where he was Music Director and Conductor of the Martina Arroyo opera courses. During the 2016-17 season, Kevin will continue to perform with Knoxville Symphony Orchestra’s Concertmaster Gabriel Lefkowitz on the KSO Concertmaster Series.
