The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra will host three family-friendly community concerts in Athens, Maryville and Morristown in May. The concerts in East Tennessee are free and open to the public, and no tickets are needed.
KSO Music Director Aram Demirjian will lead the orchestra in its first fully public performances since March 2020. The performances will feature the KSO brass and percussion sections and will include familiar selections by such as Gustav Holst’s “Mars” from The Planets, Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” and American classics like “When the Saints Go Marching In.”
“The KSO strives to serve the entire East Tennessee region with live orchestral performances,” said Jennifer Harrell, the KSO’s director of Education and Community Partnerships. “We have missed visiting communities with whom we have established partnerships. We are looking forward to these outdoor performances of live music and are especially excited to feature our brass and percussion musicians of the KSO.”
Social distancing and masks are encouraged. In cases of light rain, the concerts will take place as scheduled. In cases of cold temperatures or thunderstorms, the concerts will be postponed.
