Knoxville, TN – May 12, 2014- The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra concludes its Moxley Carmichael Masterworks Series and the final performance of the 78th Season with Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 this Thursday & Friday. Maestro Lucas Richman conducts the Orchestra, joined by guest pianist Spencer Myer. The concert will take place on Thursday, May 15 and Friday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Tennessee Theatre.
“We’ll be concluding the KSO’s 78th season with a powerful one-two-three punch,” said Maestro Lucas Richman, KSO Music Director. “First, the finale of our Masterworks Series begins with the wonderful Fidelio Overture, celebrating the 200th anniversary of the premiere of Beethoven’s only opera. Second on the program, we are delighted to welcome back to Knoxville the spirited and soulful pianist Spencer Myer, as the featured soloist for Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4, and Shostakovich’s brilliantly subversive Symphony No. 10 rounds out the evening for a musical knockout.”
Musical selections include Beethoven’s Overture to Fidelio, Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 featuring guest pianist Spencer Myer, and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 10.
Patrons can attend pre-concert chats at 6:30 p.m. in the concert hall before each performance. Guest performers will offer their personal perspective and audience members will have a chance for Q&A with the artists. This is a unique get-to-know-you opportunity!

The KSO has contributed to the cultural life in East Tennessee since 1935. Under the leadership of Lucas Richman, the orchestra consists of 75 professional musicians and performs more than 250 programs throughout East Tennessee each season. Performing in traditional venues such as the Tennessee Theatre, Bijou Theatre and the Civic Auditorium, and in non-traditional places like hospitals, school classrooms, nursing homes, city parks and churches, the KSO reaches more than 200,000 people throughout the region each year.
