Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation elects board officers

Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation (KCDC) elected 2019-20 officers for its Board of Commissioners at its annual meeting May 30.

John Winemiller

John Winemiller, managing partner of intellectual property law firm Merchant & Gould’s Knoxville office, will continue for a third year as chair. Winemiller was first appointed to the board by Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero in 2014 and has been reappointed for a second five-year term, extending to June 30, 2024.

Bob Whetsel

Bob Whetsel, retired City of Knoxville director of redevelopment, will continue as vice chair. He was appointed to the board by Rogero in 2016 for a five-year term.

Robyn McAdoo

Robyn McAdoo, a licensed architect at Dollar & Ewers Architecture, was elected treasurer. She was appointed to the board by Rogero in 2017 to serve through Sept. 30, 2018, and then became eligible for an additional five-year term on the board.

Ben Bentley

Ben Bentley, KCDC executive director and CEO, serves as secretary.

The other board members are Bruce Anderson, a retired Knoxville lawyer; Gloria Garner, a retired community organizer; Kimberly Henry, a financial advisor with Northwestern Mutual; and Sylvia Cook, KCDC resident commissioner and community advocate.

Seven members of KCDC’s Board of Commissioners are appointed by the Knoxville mayor to oversee programs provided by the agency, including affordable housing administration and redevelopment. Board officers are elected for one-year terms.
