The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra will host the KSO 30th Annual Free Pilot Flying J Independence Day Concert on July 4, 2014 at World’s Fair Park at 8:00 p.m. Maestro Lucas Richman will conduct the orchestra in this 30th annual concert as part of the City of Knoxville’s Festival on the Fourth.

This event is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC; no tickets are required. The KSO will begin playing at 8:00 p.m. and the spectacular fireworks display will start at 9:30 p.m. Blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged.

Maestro Lucas Richman conducts the Orchestra in patriotic tunes including “America the Beautiful,” “Star Spangled Banner,” “1812 Overture” and “Rocky Top.” Soloist Christopher Sanders, baritone will perform several familiar songs including the powerful “Wheels on a Dream” from the Tony Award-winning musical Ragtime. The audience can also enjoy a featured performance by KSO Concertmaster Gabriel Lefkowitz, violin, for the fourth movement of Mozart’s Haffner Serenade No. 7. View musical program here.

This is the 30th anniversary of the KSO performing a free outdoor concert on Independence Day. The KSO is proud to partner with the City of Knoxville, Pilot Flying J and WBIR-TV for this Independence Day concert. Both the concert and the fireworks display will be live broadcast on WBIR-TV Channel 10.
