Join the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra on Friday, Oct. 8, at 8 p.m. at the Tennessee Theatre for a high-energy tribute to Aretha Franklin, featuring Broadway star Capathia Jenkins and Grammy-nominated R&B artist Ryan Shaw. KSO Resident Conductor James Fellenbaum will lead the orchestra in its 2021-22 Knoxville News Sentinel Pops Series opening concert. The concert is sponsored by the KSO Pops Circle of Friends. The performance will include notable songs by the “Queen of Soul,” including “Respect,” “Chain of Fools” and “I Say a Little Prayer,” featuring Jenkins as the voice of Aretha. Other popular hits include “Amazing Grace,” “Isn’t She Lovely,” “Birth of the Blues” and more.
