The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra announces the 2015-2016 season of the Knoxville News Sentinel Pops Series. Subscriptions are on sale now starting at $105 and current subscribers have first chance to renew their subscriptions and retain their seats. Single tickets will go on sale in August 2015.
“We have an exciting line-up of Pops concerts for next season,” says KSO Executive Director Rachel Ford. “Last year, the series expanded to a five-concert package with an option for patrons to choose the fifth concert. The KSO will perform a total of six Pops concerts, featuring spectacular music with talented artists as well as paying homage to musical legends including Led Zeppelin, Rodgers & Hammerstein, and even a special performance by Kenny G.”
Current Pops Season subscribers can retain their seats by renewing their subscription by May 9. Tickets may be purchased by calling 865-291-3310. Single tickets will go on sale in August 2015. Groups of 10 or more can purchase tickets at a discounted rate by calling 865-521-2337. **New or renewing subscribers can choose 1 of 2 FREE Bonus concerts.

Bust out your bell-bottoms, put on your platform shoes, and come to the Tennessee Theatre for the ultimate disco tribute! A three-piece funk band joins the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra for the most scintillating sounds of the 1970s including “Car Wash,” “Stayin’ Alive,” “Disco Inferno,” and “Y.M.C.A.”

Enjoy one of Disney’s crown jewels of feature animation accompanied by the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, showcasing scenes from the 1940 film Fantasia and Fantasia 2000. This concert features Paul Dukas’ “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”- with Mickey Mouse’s hilarious foray into magic – and Beethoven’s “Pastorale” Symphony with mythical unicorns and winged horses.

A celebration of the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein, this evening not only celebrates the collaboration of these two geniuses, but also includes songs of Hammerstein’s collaboration with Jerome Kern (Showboat) as well as Rodgers’ collaborations with Lorenz Hart. This wonderful evening includes show-stopping Broadway tunes such as Climb Every Mountain, Oklahoma, Some Enchanted Evening, All The Things You Are, and many others! This concert will feature three fabulous Broadway stars and the A Capella Choir from Carson-Newman University.

About the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra and Pops Series
The News Sentinel Pops Series began in 1986 to fulfill a community need for a high-quality evening of classical pop entertainment. Since then, hundreds of guest artists have traveled to Knoxville to perform in this series. The News Sentinel Pops Series has produced record ticket sales and has introduced thousands of people in East Tennessee to the KSO.
The KSO has contributed to the cultural life in East Tennessee since 1935 as the oldest continually operating orchestra. The orchestra consists of 80 professional musicians and performs more than 250 programs throughout East Tennessee each season, including non-traditional places like hospitals, school classrooms, nursing homes, city parks and churches in addition to the concert hall. The KSO reaches more than 200,000 people throughout the region each year.
