Knoxville, TN – March 25, 2014 – The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra announces the 2014-2015 season of the Knoxville News Sentinel Pops Series. Subscriptions are on sale now starting at $105 and current subscribers have first chance to renew their subscriptions and retain their seats. Single tickets will go on sale in August 2014.

“We are excited to offer something new to our Pops patrons this year,” says KSO Executive Director Rachel Ford. “The series expands this season to a five-concert package with an option for patrons to choose the fifth concert. The KSO will perform a total of six Pops concerts, featuring spectacular music with talented artists, from the familiar romance of Broadway tunes to those giving homage to musical legends including Simon & Garfunkel, Elvis Presley and Queen.”

Current Pops Season subscribers can retain their seats by renewing their subscription by May 10. Tickets may be purchased by calling 865-291-3310 or visiting our website. Bugs Bunny at the Symphony II

Bugs Bunny at the Symphony II celebrates the world’s most beloved Looney Tunes and their legendary stars projected on the big screen — Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, Pepe Le Pew, Tweety, Sylvester, Wile E. Coyote, and Road Runner — while their extraordinary original scores are played LIVE. Conducted and created by George Daugherty, this new concert (and its predecessors Bugs Bunny on Broadway and Bugs Bunny at the Symphony I) have delighted millions of concertgoers around the world, and spotlight acclaimed classics like What’s Opera, Doc?, The Rabbit of Seville, and Rhapsody Rabbit, alongside eye-popping brand new Warner Bros. 3D theatrical shorts I Tawt I Taw A Puddy Tat and Coyote Falls. Subscribers can purchase the second “pick one” concert at a discounted rate, as well as receive a 20% discount to the KSO Clayton Holiday Concerts. About the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra and Pops Series

The News Sentinel Pops Series began in 1986 to fulfill a community need for a high-quality evening of classical pop entertainment. Since then, hundreds of guest artists have traveled to Knoxville to perform in this series. The News Sentinel Pops Series has produced record ticket sales and has introduced thousands of people in East Tennessee to the KSO.

The KSO has contributed to the cultural life in East Tennessee since 1935. Under the leadership of Lucas Richman, the orchestra consists of 75 professional musicians and performs more than 250 programs throughout East Tennessee each season. Performing in traditional venues such as the Tennessee Theatre, Bijou Theatre and the Civic Auditorium, and in non-traditional places like hospitals, school classrooms, nursing homes, city parks and churches, the KSO reaches more than 200,000 people throughout the region each year.
