Knoxville Symphony hires new development manager

The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra has hired Jeffrey J. Taylor as the new Development Manager to support the Director of Development and manage the KSO’s Annual Fund. Mr. Taylor comes with experience in nonprofit management, fundraising and development, marketing and grant writing. He joined the KSO staff in late summer.

Mr. Taylor joins the administrative staff which ensures the continuation of the KSO and upholds the mission of providing excellent musical programming and educational performances to East Tennessee audiences.

His previous employers include the Florence Crittenton Agency and Ijams Nature Center. He has also worked as a contract grant writer and consultant for several local and regional organizations. Originally from Newberry, South Carolina, Mr. Taylor is a graduate of Maryville College. He has lived in Knoxville since 2010.

Mary Sue Greiner, Director of Development, said, “Jeff will certainly be an asset to the KSO development team. His experience and personality will allow him to do great work for our Orchestra. He will be managing the donor database, planning special receptions and events, and support all fundraising efforts of the KSO. He will play a key role in maintaining good communication and relationships with donors and supporters.”

The KSO is supported by individual and corporate sponsors, ticket sales revenues, grant funds and donations to the Annual Fund. The KSO has closed the most recent fiscal year with a balanced budget, the ninth consecutive year of doing so. The 2015-16 season kicks off September 17 and launches the search for the next KSO Music Director.

Established in 1935, the KSO has contributed to the cultural life in East Tennessee continuously for 80 years, providing excellence in musical and educational programs. The Orchestra consists of 80 professional musicians and performs 250 programs throughout the region each season, reaching audiences of more than 200,000 people.
