Knoxville author Michelle Ironside Henry has penned “My Anchor Holds,” an inspirational account of her battle against Stage IV colorectal cancer.

In the book Henry chronicles her more than four-year journey with Stage IV colorectal cancer, from diagnosis to restoration of health. The author includes journal entries made during her illness and present-day reflections on those passages written while in the throes of tests and treatment. The result is a gripping and candid tale that delivers a message of faith, resilience and hope.

“This book is a true picture of my journey with cancer,” Henry said. “As readers follow my story, there are times when my quirky sense of humor and typically positive attitude make it fun and easy to read; there also are times when it is hard to believe that everything I endured could happen to one person. I’ve been told that mine is a compelling story, and I’m grateful for this opportunity to share it with others.”

The book sprung from Henry’s online journal postings on CaringBridge, a website that serves as a platform for information sharing and support for those facing major health issues. Henry’s site registered more than 31,000 visits.

“CaringBridge was definitely one of the positives of my illness,” Henry said. “It placed me in a tremendous network of love and support; even better, it provided an opportunity to encourage others with my posts. I hope to encourage an even greater audience through this book.”

Knoxville native and Nashville artist Brooke Griffith created the artwork – a ship in the midst of a storm printed on the hymn “It Is Well With My Soul” – which appears on the book’s cover. Henry said the print inspired the book’s name.

Henry also is a writer with Moxley Carmichael public relations firm and executive director of Executive Women’s Association.

Henry is holding a book signing on Monday, Dec. 15, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Linda’s Hallmark in the Gallery Shopping Center and currently is scheduling additional book signings and speaking engagements.

“My Anchor Holds” is published by WestBow Press, a division of Thomas Nelson & Zondervan. To learn more or to purchase autographed copies of the book, visit www.MichelleIronsideHenry.com.
