Purchasing a home in ever-changing financial markets can be quite a challenge – and especially so for first-time buyers. Fortunately, the Knoxville Area Urban League can help.
On the first Saturday of each month, the Knoxville Area Urban League’s housing program offers education and counseling services that support individuals and families looking to purchase a home. The next homebuyer education class is Saturday, Oct. 3, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“We believe every adult in East Tennessee should have access to the financial security that comes from owning a home,” said Phyllis Y. Nichols, president and CEO of the Knoxville Area Urban League. “As an approved nonprofit counseling agency by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, we are able to help homebuyers navigate the process and connect them to other housing professionals who can help.”
The Homeownership Workshop is facilitated by certified counselors to ensure all participants receive consistent and top-quality service. Topics include understanding real estate contracts, home inspections, home maintenance, homeowner’s insurance, residential loan applications, loan closing and fair housing.
