Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation (KCDC) has announced the appointment of new board officers following its annual board meeting.

David Hutchins, president of Hutchins Associates architectural firm, was elected chairman of KCDC’s board of commissioners. Hutchins has served on the board since 2001 and most recently held the vice chairman position.

Dan Murphy, a University of Tennessee professor of accounting specializing in federal taxation, will serve as vice chairman. Murphy was appointed by Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero to the Board of Commissioners a year ago.

Resident commissioner Phyllis Patrick, administrative assistant at Evergreen Presbyterian Ministries, Inc., will serve as treasurer. Alvin Nance, KCDC executive director and CEO, was elected secretary.

KCDC’s Board of Commissioners is a seven-member body appointed by the Knoxville mayor to oversee programs provided by the agency, including affordable public housing administration, redevelopment and rental assistance programs.  Its annual meeting was held in May.

Other board members are: Culver Schmid, attorney and shareholder of the law firm Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, P.C.; Lisa Wagoner, supervisor of health services for Knox County Schools; Jacqueline Arthur, general manager of the Three Rivers Market; and Dr. John Turner, retired senior vice president of education, training and diversity at Tennessee Valley Authority.
