“It’s always rewarding to add an aspiring architect to our team,” said Daryl Johnson, founder and president of Johnson Architecture. “As Rachel’s journey moves from education to practice, we appreciate the perspective she brings to our firm.”

Smith graduated in May with a Bachelor of Science in interior architecture, summa cum laude, from the UT College of Architecture and Design and earned the faculty letter of excellence in design.

In 2018, Smith studied abroad at Santa Reparata International School of Art (SRISA) in Florence, Italy, where her studies focused on architectural photography.

She served as an undergraduate teaching assistant for visual representation classes at UT and completed an internship at Pilot Company’s corporate headquarters in Knoxville as a construction and design intern for the architecture and design department. Most recently, she completed a winter internship at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) in San Francisco.

Smith is a member of Tau Sigma Delta Honor Society in Architecture and Allied Arts, Beta Alpha Chapter, and recently earned its Bronze Medal for distinction in interior architecture. She also is a member of the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA).

A native of Knoxville, Smith resides in West Knoxville and enjoys traveling in her spare time.
