October in Pigeon Forge just got even better as the Island in Pigeon Forge continues to expand its offerings to visitors. Today, the Margaritaville Island Hotel opened 57 of the hotel’s 132 rooms and welcomed a sold-out weekend crowd as the first guests.
“The Margaritaville Island Hotel makes the Island even more of a Pigeon Forge destination, as visitors now have a place to stay and enjoy everything the Island has to offer,” said Darby Campbell, the hotel’s developer.
The Margaritaville Island Hotel opened 57 of its 132 rooms on Friday, Oct. 10.
The hotel is only the third one in the country to bear the Margaritaville name with other locations in Pensacola, Fla., and Bossier City, La.
“Our hotel brings the laidback, welcoming approach of the islands to the picturesque and majestic mountains and creates an atmosphere where the comfort and pleasure of each guest come first,” Campbell added.
Each room in the hotel features a stacked stone fireplace, private balcony overlooking the Island’s best scenes and a wet bar stocked with a Margaritaville Frozen Concoction Maker.
In addition to the room amenities, the hotel features a rooftop pool and bar, fitness facility, room service from surrounding restaurants, concierge, bellhops and valet parking.
The hotel is within walking distance of the Island’s premier restaurants, and it also offers eateries of its own, including the Changes in Latitude Bar in the lobby, the Chill Bar on the rooftop and the Margaritaville Coffee Shop.
In early December, the hotel hopes to complete construction on the remaining rooms and open the Compass Rose Room, which will host special events. The hotel also will open a spa in spring 2015.
About The Island
The Island in Pigeon Forge is a new retail and entertainment center in the heart of the town. It features restaurants, shopping, attractions and a 200-foot-high observation wheel, The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel, offering spectacular views of the Great Smoky Mountains. The stunning Island Fountains dazzle guests, especially at night when they feature beautiful light shows. There is live entertainment daily.
The Island offers eateries, attractions and shops such as: Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville, Ole Smoky Moonshine Distillery, Build-A-Bear, Sweet Candy Shop, Auntie Anne’s, Cinnabon, Island Yogurt, The Fudgery, Poynor’s Pommes Frites, Timberwood Grill, Mellow Mushroom Express, Dude’s Daiquiris, Arcade City, The Flying Horse Carousel, The Euro-Bungy Jump, The Island Trading Post and Miner’s Gems & Fine Jewelry. The Margaritaville Island Hotel, a four-star property, opened in October.
The Island in Pigeon Forge is open from 10 a.m. to midnight daily. Store hours vary by business.
