If a friend or family member has a new pet atop the Christmas wish list, the time is right for adoption from Young-Williams Animal Center with the Home for the Holidays adoption special.
“Christmas is the perfect time to add a new furry member to your family,” Jeff Ashin, Young-Williams Animal Center CEO, said. “Our shelter has animals of all age, breed and temperament, so you are sure to find the perfect pet for your family this holiday season.”
From Friday, Dec. 20, to Tuesday, Dec. 31, Young-Williams will offer special pricing of $50 for kittens and puppies, $25 for adult cats and dogs and $10 for senior pets.
The adoption prices will be available at Young-Williams Animal Center at 3201 Division St., off Sutherland Drive and the Young-Williams Animal Village at 6400 Kingston Pike on Bearden Hill.
A new study from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) supports seasonal adoptions. According to the organization’s recent telephone survey, approximately 96 percent of owners who got their pets as a gift said it increased or had no effect on their love and attachment to the animal. About 86 percent of those pets were still in the home or remained with the family until the animal passed away.
“Pets are the gift that keep on giving all year round,” Ashin said. “Whether you’re coming down the stairs on Christmas morning to a puppy under the tree or coming home from work to a senior dog, the greeting of love and wet kisses is just as wonderful.”
