City of Knoxville’s Holidays on Ice presented by Home Federal Bank returns to Market Square

Locally owned Home Federal Bank joins its love of downtown Knoxville and Christmas this winter through its continued role as presenting sponsor for the City of Knoxville’s Holidays on Ice. Knoxville’s only open-air ice rink opens to the public on Friday, Nov. 28.

HolidaysICE_logo_HFB“As a hometown bank with hometown values, we’re pleased to support Holidays on Ice,” said Home Federal Bank President Dale Keasling. “We hear from many people that visiting the rink has become a favorite Christmas activity. The rink also is a great complement to our Christmas tradition of hosting free screenings of ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ at the Tennessee Theatre.”

This year marks the eighth season for the ice rink on Market Square in the heart of downtown Knoxville. The rink will be open Friday, Nov. 28, through Sunday, Jan. 4.

New to the ice this year is rink mascot Peppermint Panda. The new bear in town will join children on the ice and be available for photos.

“Holidays on Ice has turned into a wonderful community tradition for families and the community,” said City of Knoxville Director of Special Events Judith Foltz. “As one of very few open-air ice rinks in the region, Holidays on Ice enhances Market Square and downtown every year.”

In 2013, the rink hosted 19,000 skaters and 20,000 spectators. For more information, including operating hours and admission rates, visit http://www.knoxvillesholidaysonice.com.

The free screenings of “It’s a Wonderful Life” will be held on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 1 and 5 p.m. at the Tennessee Theatre. For more information, visit http://www.homefederalbanktn.com.
