Locally owned Home Federal Bank invites East Tennesseans to enjoy free admission to the Knoxville Museum of Art during the month of July.

Evan Roth's

Evan Roth’s “Intellectual Property Donor” exhibition, currently at the Knoxville Museum of Art, challenges gallery visitors to consider how everyday life intersects with virtual reality and how viral media can become high art. Home Federal Bank is sponsoring free admission to the museum throughout July. Pictured is Propulsion Painting: Ball, mixed media, 70 cm x 70 cm x 70 cm, 2012.

“Home Federal Bank recognizes the importance of making arts and cultural experiences accessible to the entire community, and we are pleased to help do that by again sponsoring free admission to the Knoxville Museum of Art,” Home Federal Bank President and CEO Dale Keasling said. “We join KMA in celebrating 25 years in its restored, renewed and remarkable museum and support its mission of enhancing Knoxville’s quality of life.”

Museum visitors will have the opportunity to view Evan Roth’s “Intellectual Property Donor” exhibition, the first major U.S. one-person presentation of the artist’s pioneering, multi-faceted and interactive installations, custom software, prints, sculptures and websites. Roth, a self-professed “hacktivist” artist, playfully transforms existing information systems into public, often political, statements. Blurring the line between artist and hacker, the exhibition challenges gallery visitors to consider how everyday life intersects with virtual reality and how viral media can become high art.

In addition to “Intellectual Property Donor,” museum visitors may view:

  • “Cycle of Life: Within the Power of Dreams and the Wonder of Infinity” by internationally recognized Knoxville artist Richard Jolley. Installed in 2014, “Cycle of Life” is one of the largest figurative glass-and-steel assemblages in the world and is both an amazing display and an engineering marvel, weighing over seven tons.
  • “Higher Ground: A Century of the Visual Arts in East Tennessee.” Devoted to the history of art in East Tennessee, this exhibition features more than 60 objects from KMA’s holdings and from public and private collections across the country.
  • “Currents: Recent Art from East Tennessee and Beyond.” This exhibition examines recent developments in international contemporary art and features objects from emerging and established artists working in East Tennessee and elsewhere.
  • The Knoxville Museum of Art, 1050 World’s Fair Park Drive, is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. The museum is closed July 4.
