Sponsorship offers free viewing of epic Jolley glass installation

Unvelied in May, Richard Jolley's glass-and-steel

Unvelied in May, Richard Jolley’s glass-and-steel “Cycle of Life: Within the Power of Dreams and the Wonder of Infinity” is a highlight at the Knoxville Museum of Art. Home Federal Bank is sponsoring free admission to the museum throughout July.

Locally owned Home Federal Bank continues its tradition of community support by sponsoring the Knoxville Museum of Art’s free admission throughout the month of July.

“Home Federal Bank recognizes the value of the arts in our community and is pleased to sponsor free admission to the Knoxville Museum of Art at such a special time in the museum’s history,” Home Federal Bank President Dale Keasling said. “Richard Jolley’s recent glass installation, ‘Cycle of Life,’ is uniquely creative and something we hope every East Tennessean will see in person.”

Unveiled in May, “Cycle of Life: Within the Power of Dreams and the Wonder of Infinity” by internationally recognized Knoxville artist Richard Jolley is one of the largest figurative glass-and-steel assemblages in the world. Capturing the essential elements of human experience, the artwork is both an amazing display and an engineering marvel, weighing over seven tons.

In addition to “Cycle of Life,” museum visitors may tour the following exhibitions:

  • “Higher Ground: A Century of the Visual Arts in East Tennessee.” Devoted to the history of art in East Tennessee, this exhibition features more than 60 objects from KMA’s holdings and from public and private collections across the country.
  • “Currents: Recent Art from East Tennessee and Beyond.” This exhibition examines recent developments in international contemporary art and features objects from emerging and established artists working in East Tennessee and elsewhere.
  • “Facets of Modern and Contemporary Glass.” This exhibition surveys the work of modern and contemporary artists who approach glass using innovative methods and techniques. (Ends Sunday, July 27.)
  • “Leonardo Silaghi: 3 Paintings.” Silaghi is a contemporary painter whose oversized canvases present realism and abstraction, often using black-and-white photographs of abandoned Cold War machinery as starting points. (Ends Sunday, July 27.)

The Knoxville Museum of Art (KMA), 1050 World’s Fair Park Drive, is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sundays, 1-5 p.m. The museum is closed July 4.
