Bank celebrates five years of sponsoring free event at the Tennessee Theatre

“It’s a Wonderful Life” is a Christmas classic featuring Jimmy Stewart as George Bailey, a compassionate but debt-ridden manager of a bank in typical small-town America, and the angel that helps Bailey realize his importance in the world. Home Federal Bank is presenting two free screenings of the film on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 1 and 5 p.m. at the Tennessee Theatre.

In celebration of the Christmas season, Home Federal Bank invites its East Tennessee neighbors to enjoy two free screenings of “It’s a Wonderful Life” at the historic Tennessee Theatre on Sunday, Dec. 14.

“As we mark five years of presenting this holiday classic film, we appreciate the community’s enthusiastic response,” said Home Federal Bank President Dale Keasling. “It’s rewarding to see the packed house each year and to hear from people that attending the movie has become a fun and relaxing annual tradition.”

The film will be shown at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., and doors will open one hour prior to each screening. The event is free, and no ticket is required. Seating is limited to the theater’s capacity.

As a bonus, moviegoers will have the opportunity to pick up $2 discount coupons for the City of Knoxville’s Holidays on Ice open-air skating rink on Market Square, also sponsored by the bank.

Released in 1947 and starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed, “It’s a Wonderful Life” is a bittersweet comedy/drama about George Bailey, a compassionate but debt-ridden manager of a bank in typical small-town America, and the angel that helps him realize his importance in the world. The film was nominated for five Academy Awards and ranks No. 20 on the American Film Institute’s “100 Greatest Movies of All Time” list.

The Tennessee Theatre is located at 604 S. Gay Street in downtown Knoxville. Convenient, free parking is available in the State Street garage. Patrons with special needs should contact the Tennessee Theatre in advance at 865-684-1200.
