Lila Honaker
The Historic Tennessee Theatre Foundation recently named Lila Honaker as its communications and development manager, a move that brings the entertainment marketing professional back to her roots at the Tennessee Theatre.
“My first job after graduating from the University of Tennessee was with AC Entertainment, marketing entertainment for the newly reopened theater,” Honaker said. “From the very beginning of my career, it was ingrained in me how special and beautiful the theater is. I consider it a tremendous opportunity to be working for the foundation that preserves this historic treasure.”
Most recently, Honaker served as marketing manager with Scripps Networks Interactive, a position that was national in scope. Honaker says she loves Knoxville and its downtown community and is happy to be working in the local community again.
“I’m ready to get to work sharing the stories of the Tennessee Theatre and building a marketing strategy that will help raise awareness of the theater,” she said.
Tennessee Theatre Executive Director Becky Hancock says that she is confident the foundation selected the right person for the position.
“Lila brings with her a background and skill set that will serve the theater well,” Hancock said. “With her background in the performing arts and music and her love for historic preservation, we believe Lila will be a terrific brand ambassador for the Tennessee Theatre.”
Honaker is a native of Lebanon, Virginia, and currently resides in the historic Lincoln Park/Oakwood community in North Knoxville. She served on the board of the Historic Bijou Theatre from 2011 to 2014 and is involved with Theatre Obsolete, a small, grassroots performing arts group that makes and performs with its own puppets.
