Hillcrest Healthcare has kicked off “Every Light Matters” to pay tribute to healthcare heroes across Knoxville working on the front lines of COVID-19 by showing support via social media, blue lights and artwork.
The three-part campaign asks community members to light up social media by changing their profile or cover photos from now until May 6 to an “Every Light Matters” graphic, available at http://www.everylightmatters.com.
The tribute also will feature blue lights at Hillcrest Healthcare’s three facilities, and several Knoxville buildings and landmarks will be lit blue in honor of local healthcare workers. Knoxville-area residents are encouraged to participate in an art contest to honor their own healthcare hero. The contest will offer prizes donated by local businesses.
“This campaign is about rallying around local heroes who continue to work around the clock providing care,” said Lavonda Cantrell, vice president of the Hillcrest Healthcare Foundation and director of special projects for Hillcrest Healthcare Communities of Knoxville. “Every single employee, whether an administrator, maintenance crew member or medical provider, deserves to be recognized for putting themselves at risk to save lives and support our community during this time.”
Hillcrest Healthcare’s three Knoxville communities at Island Home, West Hills and Beverly Park Place will be lit blue for a week in a visible show of support. In coordination with the City of Knoxville, the pedestrian bridge over Henley Street will be lit blue. Knoxville Utilities Board also will light up the Hoskins Center sign at the Middlebrook Pike campus.
The art contest will be held on Instagram where participants can submit a tribute to a healthcare hero with the hashtag #everylightmatters and tag the hero or provide the full name. Five winners with the most likes will receive a prize pack from local businesses to be donated to their healthcare hero.
Every Light Matters is presented by Hillcrest Healthcare. Sponsors and supporters include M&M Productions USA, Northshore Heights Senior Living, East Tennessee Pharmacy Services (ETPS), Sevierville Health and Rehab, City of Knoxville, Knox County, U.S. Rep. Tim Burchett and WATE Channel 6.
