Hamblen Pediatric Associates joins Summit Medical Group

March 26, 2018

Hamblen Pediatric Associates has joined Summit Medical Group, East Tennessee’s largest primary care organization, as Summit continues to integrate pediatric care in addition to adult and family medicine.

“Partnering with Hamblen Pediatric Associates extends Summit Medical Group’s growing network of pediatricians into Morristown, Jefferson City and Sevierville,” Summit Medical Group CEO Ed Curtis said. “By providing comprehensive, high-quality primary care from birth through adulthood, we expect that many families will appreciate the continuum of care available to them at Summit. We look forward to serving them at Hamblen Pediatric Associates and other Summit primary care locations.”

Summit Medical Group started adding pediatric services in the fall of 2017. Dr. Michael Damron serves patients at Summit Medical Group at Maryville, and Shults Pediatrics serves the Knoxville-area community.

Hamblen Pediatric Associates has been serving East Tennessee since 1970 when Dr. Mary Bukovitz had a vision to care for the infants, children and adolescents of the Lakeway area. Since then, the organization has grown to provide pediatric medical care to Hamblen County and surrounding communities. Hamblen Pediatric Associates has offices in Morristown and Jefferson City, and its affiliate, Hometown Pediatric, is located in Sevierville.

“We have a reputation for quality and dedication to patient care, and Summit Medical Group shares those values,” said Pat Pendland, practice manager for Hamblen Pediatric Associates. “Working with Summit Medical Group as a like-minded business partner provides us with business support services for our three medical offices, while allowing us to continue to focus on the quality of healthcare we provide to families. Our patients come first, and joining with Summit allows us to maintain and sharpen that primary focus.”

Hamblen Pediatric Associates offers extended and weekend hours, as well as 24/7 on-call physician services, to provide better access of care to patients. Its licensed lab performs on-site testing for illnesses such as flu, mono and strep throat. The practice is modeled as a patient-centered medical home, dedicated to managing and facilitating all aspects of pediatric care with continuity for each child.
