Gerdau recently named Tim Perry 2013 Employee of the Year for its Knoxville mill. Perry, a crane operator, was nominated by coworkers and selected by administration in recognition of his excellent work ethic and positive attitude.
“The dinner that recognizes all of our Employee of the Month winners is one of my favorite events of the year,” said Johnny Miller, vice president and general manager of the Gerdau steel mill in Knoxville. “It is an honor to fellowship with employees, and their families, selected by their peers as the very best among a workforce filled with talented and engaged employees. For Tim to stand out from among such a stellar group is a tremendous achievement.”
During the nomination process, coworkers praised Perry for being one of the facility’s best crane operators and also appreciated his willingness to pitch in and help wherever needed.
“Perry’s coworkers recognized him during the event by giving multiple examples where he is outstanding in his current role and also how he goes above and beyond by volunteering to help teammates in some of the most difficult tasks in the shop,” said Miller. “We are pleased to recognize his solid performance with this award, and I congratulate all of the Employee of the Month winners for their outstanding contributions.”
