Moxley Carmichael’s successful internship program netted another full-time team member, as former lead intern Destinee Dowdy joins the firm as a public relations specialist.
Dowdy originally came to Moxley Carmichael as a public relations intern in August 2016. After graduating with honors from the University of Tennessee last December, Dowdy continued with Moxley Carmichael as the full-time lead intern.
“Destinee is a driven worker who impressed us early on in her internship,” Moxley Carmichael CEO Cynthia Moxley said. “Her desire to learn and her familiarity with our clients make her a great fit for our company.”
Dowdy is one of five employees at Moxley Carmichael who began in the company’s internship program.
“We aim to provide our interns with a variety of experience that sharpens their skills and prepares them for a communications position at any firm or in any industry,” Moxley added.
Before joining Moxley Carmichael, Dowdy served as the special events intern for the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority where she planned large-scale events for the 2016 Smoky Mountain Air Show. Dowdy also interned with the Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum as a nonprofit communications intern.
In addition, Dowdy served as a resident assistant with the UT housing department for two and a half years and worked directly with students as a mentor and community program developer.
When she’s outside the office, Dowdy enjoys yoga, seeking the best coffee shops in town and spending time with her newly adopted dog, Bentley, a rescue from Young-Williams Animal Center.
