“10,000 Masks in 10 days for 10 hospitals”
Covenant Health is conducting a community-wide campaign to collect 10,000 masks in 10 days for use at the health system’s 10 East Tennessee hospitals.
While some people may be hesitant to seek treatment at a hospital or medical office at this time, medical care should not be delayed or avoided. As a precaution against the spread of COVID-19, all Covenant Health organizations currently require patients, visitors, vendors and staff to wear facial coverings or cloth masks at all times while inside their facilities. Patients and visitors are encouraged to bring masks from home, but every mask donated helps provide for those who may need them while conserving hospital masks for use by employees.
On April 27, Covenant Health launched a community challenge titled “Behind Every Mask is a Heart” with a goal to gather 10,000 masks. As of April 30, nearly 4,000 masks have been donated. The challenge continues through May 6. Face coverings may be made from cloth or fabric and should be washed before donating. Sew and no-sew patterns for masks are available at cdc.gov.
Face mask donations can be dropped off at all Covenant Health hospitals, Thompson Cancer Survival Center locations, Fort Sanders Health and Fitness Center and several Covenant Medical Group locations. Mask drop-off boxes are conveniently located outside the front entrances.
