KINGSPORT AQUATIC CENTER’S STATE-OF-THE-ART FACILITY DRAWS FIRST MULTISTATE SWIM COMPETITION, OFFERS ‘FAST SWIMMING’

About all a competitive swimmer needs is a pool of water, a suit and maybe goggles, right? Many people who watch these athletes compete could easily think that. However, the quality of the facility – including the depth of the water and even the lane dividers – helps swimmers increase their speed and set personal time records.

KINGSPORT AQUATIC CENTER EARNS STATEWIDE PUBLIC WORKS AWARD

The $17.2 million Kingsport Aquatic Center has been named Project of the Year by the Tennessee Chapter of the American Public Works Association. The center offers Kingsport residents and visitors year-round access to aquatic fitness and recreation activities.

The City of Kingsport has earned statewide recognition for the Kingsport Aquatic Center, a rousing recreational success in East Tennessee.

CHILDREN, ADULTS ENJOYED 100,000 VISITS TO THE KINGSPORT AQUATIC CENTER DURING FIRST SUMMER SEASON

The numbers heated up as people cooled off at the Kingsport Aquatic Center during its first summer season. In just over three months, the center welcomed area residents and visitors to its refreshing waters more than 100,000 times.

As area kids go back to school, the Kingsport Aquatic Center is changing its hours of operation beginning Monday, Aug. 12, to offer students additional evening hours to enjoy its outdoor amenities. The Kingsport Aquatic Center is now the area’s only public outdoor water park open during the week.

The Kingsport Aquatic Center has made a big splash, welcoming tens of thousands of Kingsport residents and area visitors since its opening just over a month ago.

Kingsport Aquatic Center’s outdoor water park, featuring a large pool with a water playground and lily pad crossing, two water slides, a 900-foot lazy river and a concession area, opens to the public on Saturday, May 25, at 10 a.m.

Elected officials, community leaders, Chamber representatives, donors and other guests gathered at the newly completed Kingsport Aquatic Center for a ribbon cutting May 17.
